Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Features of persistent inattention and/ or hyperactivity-impulsivity that impact on functioning. Behaviours need to be apparent in two or more different environments.

Anxiety, Panic and Phobias Including Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Symptoms of increased physical arousal that may be triggered by specific situations or objects, or persistent worry. Some individuals may avoid certain places in an attempt to reduce the symptoms or experience panic like symptoms when having to face certain situations.

OCD includes recurrent obsessions or compulsions that are time consuming and cause the individual marked distress.

Autism Spectrum Conditions (Including Asperger’s Syndrome)

 

People with autism (formerly called Asperger’s Syndrome) have trouble understanding and relating to others, exhibit unusual behaviour and over or under react to sensory stimulation.

Personality Disorders

An enduring pattern of communication and interaction styles, and behaviour, that is notably different from the expectations of an individual’s culture that may lead to distress and social difficulties.

Eating Disorders

Severe disturbance in eating behaviour that may include restricted food intake or episodes of eating extreme amounts of food which may or may not be accompanied with compensatory behaviours such as extreme exercising or purging.

Gender and Sexual Identity Issues (GLBTI)

Strong identification and sense of belonging to a cross-gender and discomfort about one’s own gender role and identity.

Mood Disorders (Including Bipolar and Depression)

Disturbances of mood that may include depressive episodes and chronic low mood and persistently elevated and irritable episodes.

Adjustment Difficulties

Symptoms of anxiety and depression can result in response to an identifiable stressor where an individual may experience symptoms of distress that impacts on their social, occupational, or academic functioning.

Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and Acute Stress

Extreme anxious psychological conditions that develop after an individual is exposed to any traumatic stressor either as a direct victim or witness. The person’s response to the stressor involves intense fear and causes associated psychological symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares, or feelings of detachment.

Psychosis, Hallucinations, Dementias, Paranoia
